Asking For Help is a Win Win

How knowing what to ask will get you what you need

Ever wonder why some people are better at getting what they want than others? I don’t have statistical data to support this, but from observing people’s behavior and my own for that matter, I have found they all do something similar. They ASK FOR HELP.

Being a #mompreneur means needing help. Simple. To get a business off the ground with a child at home, or really with any other life responsibility to consider, is super hard.

I knew nothing about instagram or the power of quality photos when I started, and literally harassed my dear friend to teach me about it. So maybe harassing isn’t a great idea for a best practice, but getting 972er off the ground has really meant learning to ask for help.  And there’s much more to it than just asking.

In general I find, that people really need you to tell them exactly what they can do to help you. Zeroing in on that is key. It’s not that people don’t want to help, but everyone is super busy.

If you manage to grab someone’s attention remember this: Say it clear and say it quick! And do your homework. Who is this person? What are their skills? What is the easiest way for them to help. Remember the classic Cuba Gooding Jr. bathroom scene from Jerry Maguire? “Help me, help you”. Exactly what I’m talking about here. You get it.

One last thing. My grandfather likes to say “there’s no such thing as a free lunch”. Depending on whom you are talking to, offer your help in return and ask “ How can I help YOU?

I’d love to hear how it goes for you, so come on back and let me know. Have Fun!
